Caterpillar Marine Power Systems says it will now offer a comprehensive range of propulsion and maneuvering solutions for its marine engine platforms soon to be offered globally.

Caterpillar's Vice President for Marine Petroleum Power Richard Case says the company looks forward to introducing the products into the market.

"We spend a lot of time listening to our customers so when they began requesting complete systems solutions from Caterpillar, we went straight to work," said Case.

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems says the customizable Cat Joystick system will be more responsive for low-speed vessels as well as offer greater ease of maneuverability and docking.

Cat also says yacht builders specifically will benefit from the new Cat Pod system as installation costs and time will dramatically decrease.

The joystick package is expected to be ready to order in 2012 and the Pod will be offered beginning in 2014.
