WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) awarded Congressman Bobby Schilling (IL-17) NAM's Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence on Thursday at an event hosted by NAM member Caterpillar Inc.
Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Doug Oberhelman presented the award in recognition of Congressman Schilling's commitment to manufacturing competitiveness and his record of support on Key Manufacturing Votes in the 112th Congress.
"Caterpillar, our industry partners and the thousands of U.S. communities that are supported by local manufacturing thank Congressman Schilling for ensuring that the manufacturing voice is heard in Washington," said Oberhelman. "Congressman Schilling is a leader in Washington who knows that manufacturing is a key driver of economic growth, job creation and prosperity."
The NAM's Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence is based on the voting record of all Members of Congress on key manufacturing legislation identified by the NAM in the 112th Congress. These included key votes on issues such as energy policy, taxes and regulations, among others. Each key vote was selected by the NAM's Key Vote Advisory Committee, which is comprised of NAM member companies and associations.
