Accident at Caterpillar Building Kills Man

A 34-year-old man died during an accident at a Caterpillar facility in East Peoria Sunday.

Troy Bryner, from Wyoming, Illinois, was in an accident around 11 a.m. at Building KK in East Peoria involving the machine he was maintaining.

A Caterpillar spokesman said Caterpillar employees at the facility initially attended to the man before he was transported to OSF Medical Center in Peoria, where he was later pronounced dead around noon.

Bryner was a senior mechanical technician for Advanced Technology Services. The Peoria County Coroner said Bryner was servicing a machine when he receiving crushing injuries.

In a statement Caterpillar extended its sympathies to Bryner's family and friends.

"The safety of Caterpillar employees and anyone working inside Caterpillar facilities is a top priority for Caterpillar. Per normal practice, an investigation of the incident is underway," said the statement.

The Peoria County Coroner and East Peoria Police are also investigating.
