FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. -- Caterpillar said it will shut down its marine engine plant in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.

Work from that plant will be moved to another in Griffin, Georgia.

Some 380 full-time and 130 temporary workers will be affected.

Caterpillar earlier announced that some other engine operations would be transferred to a plant in Seguin, Texas.

The South Carolina plant will be closed by the end of the year.
