Caterpillar is continuing to close down plants in an effort to cut costs.

The plant is in Rantigny, France about 40 miles north of Paris.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Caterpillar plans to sell the facility.

The French plant makes equipment for road paving like compactors, planers and pavers.

In October, Caterpillar spokesperson Jim Dugan said the demand for mining was down and that as a result, there could be more layoffs on the horizon.

This latest closure will affect 244 people
