GALESBURG, Ill.-- The city of Galesburg is rallying its forces to attract the attention of Caterpillar.

Mayor Sal Garza says the effort is both local and regional, as the city has focused on garnering support from communities in the surrounding area.

"We have met with local taxing bodies and have communicated with our region's elected officials, municipalities, and other key stakeholders that we will need their support to attract this world class facility," said Mayor Garza.

State Representative Don Moffitt says he is pleased with Galesburg's regional approach.

"It shows a real understanding of what economic development looks like in the 21st century, and it's this kind of regional collaboration that will lead to significant job creation opportunities in the future," said Moffitt.  "I think this is something we can all get behind."

And, if there's one thing Mayor Garza wants the business world to know, it's that Galesburg is open for business.
