EAST PEORIA, IL. -- Most of us have heard about the four homes in East Peoria teetering on the edge of a ravine after a landslide.

The community is coming together to help the families affected by holding a fundraiser, "operation on stable ground" this weekend.

The Operation On Stable Ground Fundraiser, a benefit for the families affected by the landslide on Caitlin Court and Sunnybrook Drive, will occur from 4-11 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at the Festival Building, 2200 E. Washington St. Activities will include a raffle, silent auction, live music and entertainment, children's activities, and food and beverages.

Proceeds will be distributed equally among the families affected by the landslide, which occurred during a 5-inch rainstorm in April. Now instead of having backyards with a hill, the families' homes are perched on the edge of a 75-foot cliff. None of the families have insurance that will cover damage to their property or homes from a landslide.

Donations are being accepted for the raffles and auction. To donate items or for more information, send an e-mail to Jami Renfrow,
