It was this same holiday weekend 10 years ago that proved to be a frightening night across central and western Illinois.

Several tornadoes touched down May 10th, 2003 causing extensive damage in the eastern parts of South Pekin.

According to the National Weather Service, the long-track tornado destroyed 50 homes and damaged 80 more.

It then moved into Morton, severely damaging the Cape Cod Village apartment complex and many cars on I-155 and I-74.

More than 100 homes were also damaged in Morton.

Despite the devastation left behind, there were no fatalities or serious injuries.
