The so–called "Common Sense Express" tour is apparently out of gas.
Former Bradley Basketball Coach Dick Versace has dropped out of the race for Congress.

In a statement, Versace said due to unforeseen personal circumstances, he's withdrawing as a Democratic candidate for the 18th congressional seat.

Versace launched his "Common Sense" campaign in October as the only Democrat trying to take the seat being vacated by Representative Ray LaHood, who is retiring.

State Senator Dave Koehler says fellow democrats will try and find someone else to run.

"You need the right candidate and you need to have a good campaign. Dick was certainly on the way to that. So whoever is in next candidate will have to do double time to try and catch up," said Koehler.

However, the Democrats effort to find a replacement candidate is unclear tonight.

Yesterday was the last day candidates could file to be a write in candidate for the Illinois primary.

Three Republicans are squaring off in February to win the GOP nomination.
