In recent years, there have been numerous unconfirmed reports of mountain lion sightings in Illinois.

But now, a 14-year-old Pike County, Illinois boy says he not only saw one...he says it attacked him.

Fourteen -year-old Jeremiah Dice says he's lucky to be alive after a mountain lion the size of a Great Dane attacked him Saturday night.

Jeremiah was on his deer stand near Baylis, Illinois when he says he first spotted the mountain lion.

After he thought the animal had left, the boy said it attacked him, shredding his jacket and ripping up his hat.

Jeremiah says he slashed at the mountain lion with his hunting knife and it ran off.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources took DNA samples and is investigating the report.
