President Abraham Lincoln made 18 visits to Peoria during his lifetime. Now he has returned with a special exhibit.
Today officials with the Lakeview Museum in Peoria unveiled the Abraham Lincoln traveling exhibit. For the next two weeks, visitors can see a visual time line of the 16th President's life.
Organizers who secured the project say this a huge coup for the Peoria area.
Museum President Jim Richerson said, "There's been a lot of discussion about Lincoln's 200th birthday in 2009 and it's so appropriate that the state museum is doing this and we happened to be looking at this exhibit and got in contact with them and said we'll take it for as long as we can get it."
Lakeview Museum is the first site in Illinois outside of Springfield to host this exhibition.
