East Peoria Residents Urged to Develop Evacuation Plan

April 20, 2013 Updated Apr 20, 2013 at 9:46 AM CDT

EAST PEORIA, Ill. – If the river levels reach high enough to cause severe flooding in East Peoria, officials there want their residents to have a plan. Authorities say people who live in the Richland Farms area and those along and west of Main Street will have to evacuate if severe flooding does occur. They are asking for everyone to develop a plan for themselves and their pets so they can get out quickly.

Those in the potentially effected areas are asked to get supplies ready, including food, water and other basic items so a quick exit is possible when the evacuation order is given.

Information is being posted on the city website, cityofeastpeoria.com, and on the East Peoria Facebook page. Residents can also call 698-4716 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
