PEORIA, Ill. – There are just two days left before the 25th Annual Duck Race.
Volunteers flocked to the Center for Prevention of Abuse Thursday night to prepare the ducks for their splashdown.
The building was packed full of ducks and people ready to tag them.
Volunteers spent the evening removing the old numbers and sticking new ones on the ducks.
Carla Payne, Director of Development for the Center of Prevention Abuse, says the Race plays a vital role in keeping the Center's services thriving throughout the community.
"It seems like each year the demand for services increases, so we're trying to serve more people with the same funding,” Payne said. “A lot of the proceeds from the Duck Race goes towards prevention education."
Approximately 25,000 ducks are now ready to take a swim on Saturday.
