The McLean County Coroner and Normal Police are investigating the circumstances surround the death of a 37–year old man who froze to death.

Thomas Edwards' body was found next to a frozen pond at Lakeview Condominiums at 903 North Linden just after seven o'clock this morning.
Police say Edwards appeared to have wandered away from his apartment.
An autopsy shows he died from exposure as well as drug or alcohol intoxication.

"There did not appear to be any sign in the snow of a struggle. There was no apparent trauma or exposed wounds that we could see to indicate something criminal had occurred," said Normal Police Chief Kent Crutcher.

"His body did show signs of cold exposure from the weather we've being experiencing. But at the same time it does appear as if there may be either drug or alcohol intoxication going on as well," said Coroner Beth Kimmerling.

Edwards was a single self–employed wedsite designer.

He was found about 150 feet from the entrance to his residence.
