40 Leaders under 40 honored

EAST PEORIA, Ill -- Forty of the most promising men and women in the Peoria area were honored Thursday night for their leadership roles in the community.

Those recognized came from a variety of professions and backgrounds. They included doctors, lawyers, educators, engineers...and HOI 19's very own Gretchen Wirtz.

 

One organizer says it is important to recognize the leaders who are providing a vision for the future.

 

"There are a lot of challenges facing us in the region, in the state, in the country,” said Jonathan Wright, Managing Editor for Peoria Magazines. “It's very important that young people stand up and provide leadership for the next generation."

 

This is the 19th year for the Peoria area 40 Under 40 celebration.
