At a time when transportation is a top priority, Illinois will have a new leader at I-DOT. On Saturday, Governor Pat Quinn chose veteran lawmaker Gary Hannig from Litchfield as the state's new transportation secretary. The democrat has served in the Illinois House since 19-79 and is a top budget negotiator for Speaker Michael Madigan.
Hannig replaces Milton Sees, who has a background in engineering and management.
The state is likely to launch plenty of new transportation projects as it gets money from the federal stimulus package and lawmakers try to agree on a statewide construction program.
