Cars were crowding roads Saturday in Fulton County for the annual Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive.

The Fall Festival takes place over a 100-mile stretch spotlighting 20 towns in Fulton County.

Along the way, there are arts and crafts, food, and an enjoyable scenic drive.

Thousands of people came out for the opening day of the festival despite the dreary weather and tough economic times.

Spoon River Drive Customer Vickie Plett says, " It's basically a family tradition and so we always try to make it the first weekend and so I know I've got to set so much money back to do this each year."

Spoon River Drive Customer Lisa Godinez says, "We've been saving all year to come find something unique...I got this for $5.00 so we're working on it."

Some other popular spots along the drive include London Mills, Lewiston, Duncan Mills, and Bernadotte.

The festival runs this weekend and next weekend as well.
