MORTON, Ill. -- 709 School District officials wrapped up their final workshop tonight.
It was their sixth and final meeting for 709-Connect, a community effort to improve the district.
In the final session, participants reviewed a list of recommendations that will be presented to the Board of Education.
Top recommendations included creating a long term plan for district facilities, finance, and curriculum.
Participants also stressed the importance of creating a "facilities and finance advisory committee" for the district's future.
"The board wanted to get more interaction with the community and they wanted the community to be able to come to them and say this is what we want to see," said Community Volunteer Kelly Scarfe.
"I have now a grandson that is entering the kindergarten and I want for his future to have great facilities and great curriculum for them to have Morton to continue to be the great education program that it is," said Morton grandparent Timm Geiger.
All of the recommendations will be formally presented to the Board of Education on December 11.
