Some Peorians stepped up today - pledging to make Peoria a better community in 2010.
They also got to make their film debut - telling the camera what they were doing to help out. It's all part of the "Stepping Up" campaign, and organizers say every effort to help improve the community make a difference.
One participant said she was stepping up by serving on jury duty this week, but that's just one of the creative examples. Breanne Miller says she's stepping up by participating in the art program at her high school, and displaying her work throughout the community. "Hopefully this gets other people in the community more involved, or people can see the other kinds of cool things you can do with art in the art programs at your school or on your own, and I'm hoping to inspire people to, you know, get motivated," Miller said.
Organizers say there are other ways to step up - like volunteering at local organizations, or even helping out a family member.
