Mosquitoes Test Positive with West Nile Virus

If you are going to be outside this weekend make sure you protect yourself from mosquitoes.

The state health director says mosquito samples collected in Tazewell County have been confirmed to test positive for the West Nile virus. This is the first positive mosquito test results in central Illinois.

The batches of mosquitoes came from East Peoria and Pekin and were test this week.

To help reduce the risk of mosquitoes in your yard get rid of any stagnant water and protect yourself by wearing insect repellent containing deet.
