PEORIA, Ill. -- A children's museum in Peoria has been a dream for many and now construction is just a few months away.
The Power of Play campaign has been raising money for many years for a children's museum.
And Friday night they hosted a "before party".
The public was invited to Glen Oak pavilion to get a look at designs for six different galleries that will be in the museum.
The development director says a children's museum is exactly what the kids need.
"Peoria is one of the only cities of our size to not already have a Children's Museum, so we knew it was really important. We know the children need a place like this to play, so we're very excited to offer this to them," said development director Brenda O'Russa.
They hope to start construction by late spring or early summer.
