PEORIA, Ill. -- City workers in the AFSCME Local 3464 union now have a two-year tenative contract extension with the city after more than six months at the bargaining table.
The agreement calls for wage increases in both years, clarifying language for the good attendance program, and preserves longevity pay, which rewards employees for long service to the city of Peoria.
Additionally, employees who retired after October 31, 2011 will receive a one-time settlement payment as the parties clarified final pay outs for past and future retirees.
"I appreciate the attitude management brought to the table and that we were able to reach a fair and equitable agreement," said Tim Lavaelle, AFSCME Council 31 staff representative.
The union will confuct a ratification vote on December 5, 2012 at City Hall, and if the agreement is ratified by the membership, it will move on to the City Council for final approval.
