ATV accident claims life of 19-year-old

NORMAL, Ill. -- An ATV crash that killed a local teenager Friday night. 19-year-old Dexton North was driving the ATV in McLean County when it rolled over, killing him.

Multiple agencies responded to that single ATV roll-over in rural Normal near White Oak and Ropp roads around 8:30 Friday night.

Authorities say Dexton North and a female passenger were riding on private property when they struck a recently constructed earthen berm and overturned.

They were transported to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, where North was pronounced dead.

Preliminary findings show that he died from multiple blunt force injuries to the head, chest, abdomen. The passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash, and forensic toxicology tests have been ordered.
