CARLOCK, Ill. -- A portion of I-74 traffic was slowed down Sunday evening due to a tractor-trailer accident.
Illinois State Police were called to the site at Milepost 116 near Carlock around 1:30 p.m. Authorities say Thomas Sanders, of Missouri, was driving westbound hauling about 45,000 pounds of sheet steel, when he drove off the roadway and into a ditch.
There were no injuries reported, but the tractor-trailer unit sustained severe damage.
Traffic was reduced to one lane while tow-crews cleaned the area, well into the evening. Sanders was charged with improper lane usage, and police are continuing the investigation.
