TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. -- The Tazewell County Health Department Dental Center announced Tuesday that effective August 1, adult dental services to emergencies only.
According to the Tazewell County Health Department, the recent passing of The Save Medicaid Access and Resources Together (SMART) Act has limited dental services to emergencies.
The definition of an emergency dental situation is it is deemed medically necessary due to pain, infection, swelling or injury that can be treated by extraction only. No other dental services for adults are covered by Medicaid.
The Tazewell County Board of Health says that they will be monitoring the situation and more information will be available following the next regularly scheduled meeting at the end of July.
