PEORIA, Ill.-- About 260 people attended the sold-out Red, Back, and Green Ball at the Peoria Riverfront on Saturday.
The five Hall of Fame inductees were nominated by the community for their work, talent and effort in making the tri-county area a better place.
Those inducted into the 2013 Hall of Fame are Dorian ‘Dodie’ Dunson, Sr., Mary Jo Schettler, James Lowry, Melanie Anderson and Stephanie Goodman.
The Hall of Fame Museum President, Rosemary McCullough says those recognized are leaving a legacy.
McCullough said, "They're sharing the history of what can happen when people come together. Whether it's in art, whether it's in music, whether it's in education, whether it's in civic affairs. In all of those areas there are people who stand out and sometimes it's the unsung heroes."
Four High school students were also given scholarships at the ceremony.
