Ameren Explains Proposed Transmission Line

BARTONVILLE, Ill -- Ameren Illinois is explaining its proposal to build the Fargo - Mapleridge Transmission Line to the resident that would be affected.

The company held its first open house of three.

Ameren wants to build a 345,000 volt transmission line to connect the existing Fargo Substation to a new substation.

The project is approximately 20-miles in length.

A spokeswoman says it will Improve reliability, reduce outages and improve voltage for the entire grid.

"We have to explain the needs and benefits. Why do we want to build it? We have to make sure people understand that and agree with it," said Peggy Lad, with Ameren Support. "We also want to tell you how we're going to build the line. We want to tell you what the regulatory process is. We want to share all this information."
