COLLINSVILLE, Ill. -- Ameren announced Monday that many Ameren Illinois customers will pay less for electricity beginning June 1 as a result a reduction in the wholesale price of electricity.

“This is very good news for all of our customers,” said Ameren Illinois President & CEO Richard J. Mark. “Those who purchase their electricity through a retail electric supplier as well as those who get their electric supply from Ameren Illinois are benefitting from lower electric supply costs.”

It is estimated the new rates for electricity will mean a typical residential customer who uses 10,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity anually will save approximately $107 per year.

Electricity usage is measured in kilowatt-hours.
