WEST PEORIA, Ill. -- Jimmy's Bar in West Peoria invited people to come out and light up at the 8th annual Midwest Cigar Summit.

The event was hosted by the Gentlemen's Cigar Society of Central Illinois.

New and seasoned smokers were invited to come out and try a wide range of different cigars from numerous vendors.

Member's of the the Gentlemen's Cigar Society said they find cigars to be a unique way for people to come together.

"Cigar's bring a wide range of people together, people that wouldn't get together otherwise," said founding member Jeff McSweeney. "We share stories, we get backgrounds, we share a good smoke and we just talk."

"Different types of roles and jobs and the common thing you find is that they all sit down around the table and smoke a cigar and everybody's best friends," said member Mark Little.

Door prizes were also raffled off at the event.

The proceeds will benefit the Cigar Rights of America, an organization working to fight tobacco tax increases and smoking bans.
