NORMAL, Ill. – An apartment fire has left at least one tenant homeless and heavily damaged a building on Bryan Street in Normal.

Firefighters responded to 1612 Bryan Street Tuesday afternoon after a passerby reported seeing smoke coming from an upstairs apartment.

Normal Police officers arrive on the scene first and reported seeing blinds melting in the upper apartment window.

Firefighters called for extra crews from both Normal and Bloomington to battle the blaze. The fire was contained to one upstairs apartment. The rest of the building sustained moderate smoke and water damage.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cost of the damage and cause of the fire are unknown at this time.
