BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, Ill. -- Wednesday's weather was perfect to get involved in a national event.
The American Heart Association is bringing attention to National Walking Day.
One of the local events took place on campus at Illinois State University. The message is a simple thirty minute walk each day can improve cardiovascular health.
To help motivate more people to walk, the organization mapped out and registered walking paths across the country.
"We just want to make sure that we are getting people the information, and we've even had a couple people come back today and say gosh, we took two laps around and it wasn't that bad. Well, what they don't realize is that they just walked a full mile," said Melissa Chrisman of the American Heart Association.
