PEORIA, Ill. -- This weekend, area boy scouts are asking the public to combine their love for Monster trucks with the need to feed the hungry.
Thursday night, the Peoria and Bloomington Area Boy Scouts gathered at the Civic Center to kick off their multi-month food drive.
Each child was asked to bring a canned good in exchange for crayons and markers to decorate this crush car.
During Saturday's Monster Jam show, the car will be demolished in tribute to "crushing out hunger," and you can participate by donating canned goods at the door. From 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday the Boy Scouts will be collecting canned goods in the Great Hall/Lobby at the Civic Center.
Every fan donating at least one canned good will be entered to win four front row tickets to next year's show, along with a package of official Monster Jam signed merchandise.
All canned goods collected will be donated to the W.D. Boyce Council's spring canned food drive that benefits local food pantries.
