PEORIA, Ill. -- Hundreds of people filled an airport terminal at Peoria International Airport on Tuesday night to give area veterans a warm welcome home.

The veterans were returning from the second Greater Peoria Honor Flight in Washington D.C.

Bagpipes led the procession as the crowd cheered from both sides.

Both veterans and well wishers agreed it was a great way to end an even better day.

"Unbelievable. I wouldn't have ever dreamed it. Like I said, I had to tear up," said Korean War Veteran Gene Rosine.

"I feel grateful that I am here and I am an American, and that there is red, white and blue everywhere. I would not be here if they were not willing to die for me, and this is the least I can do," said Dunlap resident Tara Green.
