DEKALB, Ill. -- The only area high school football team to appear at the state championships this weekend is Tri-Valley.
The undefeated Vikings made their first-ever trip to state where they faced Lena-Winslow.
A big contingent of fans from Downs traveled to Huskie Stadium in Dekalb, making their voices heard during today's class-one-A title game.
Win or lose, they were excited their team made history this season.
"Its just been really exciting being such a new program and being in our 12th season. We're just really excited and its been a wild ride," said Jeff Herrman.
"I think the kids thought we were going to end it this way the whole time. They've got a lot of belief in each other, they've got a lot of belief in their coach so we thought we were going to win all the way along," said Aaron Moore.
The Vikings took a 7-point lead on this touchdown and led the game at halftime.
