PEORIA Ill -- Our country's servicemen and women were honored Saturday as part of Armed Forces Day.

A celebration was held at Junction City Saturday afternoon.

Current and vintage military vehicles were on display, along with weapons and other battle equipment.

All proceeds will help continue the Peoria to Washington D.C. honor Flight for area veterans.

"The most important thing to remember is that we are standing here today because of the fact that they gave up themselves for us to be free," said Vice President of Greater Peoria Honor Flight, Margaret Hanley. "That's a great thing, and that is what makes America the greatest country on Earth."

The Greater Peoria Honor flight still needs help sending a group of veterans to Washington D.C. this fall.

Members said, along with donations, they need more volunteers and guardians for the September trip.
