Both suspects arrested for shooting death of Galesburg teen

GALESBURG, Ill. -- Galesburg Police, with the help of the U.S. Marshals, have arrested both suspects in the shooting death of a Galesburg teen.

Brandon Kenney, 18, was taken into custody Friday morning at a home in rural Galesburg for First Degree Murder and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

He is being held on $1 million bond.

Alex Horton, 18, was arrested Thursday night at his home on Willard Street. Horton was wanted for possession of a firearm by a felon.

He is being held on $250,000 bond.

Both men were sought in connection with the shooting death of Javon Butler, 15, of Galesburg.

Butler was found dead in a yard in the 600 block of Monmouth Boulevard just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, December 22.
