MAPLETON, Ill. -- Authorities in Mapleton are investigating the cause of a fire at the Chemtura Chemical plant.

The fire prompted authorities to close Route 24 for about four miles on each side of Mapleton. That stretch of road has since been reopened.

Firefighters say the fire is under control but say they took precautions, because of concern that there would be a secondary explosion.

Authorities say the blaze broke out on a loading dock, and that employees were on duty, but were not in the building.

No injuries are reported.

Haz-mat teams have assessed the situation at the Chemtura plant, formerly known as Lonza, and have given the all clear to reopen Route 24.
