PEORIA, Ill. -- Local authorities are investigating the cause of an early morning fire that destroyed a home on N. North Street.
The fire broke out around 5:00 a.m. Firefighters say that when crews arrived at 2218 N. North Street, they found flames melting the siding.
Authorities say the fire spread all the way to the attic, adding that crews had a hard time getting to the fire because of the construction type.
Early reports indicate that the home was occupied by that no one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries are reported and damage is estimated a $45,000.
