PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria police are searching for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident Sunday afternoon that left one man hospitalized.

Witnesses say the victim's car rolled several times, stopping on its roof. This as the driver responsible fled the scene-- first by car, then on foot.

The wreck occurred around 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the corner of Knoxville and Frye in Peoria. Police say the driver of a red van, was headed east from Frye onto Knoxville when it collided a white SUV, causing the SUV to roll at least two or three times.

The driver of the SUV was conscious and alert when first responders arrived. He was taken to OSF St. Francis for what appeared to be non life threatening injuries.

Police are looking for the driver of the red mini van, which was found abandoned a block north of the scene.

When authorities searched the car, beer cans were clearly visible on the van's floor.
