PEORIA, Ill. -- A Bartonville man has been declared brain dead following a Friday morning car crash.

According to the Peoria County Coroner, Mark Koener was traveling westbound in the 6200 block of Farmington Road when his car left the roadway and hit a tree around 2 a.m. Friday morning.

Koener was ejected from the car. The coroner said alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Koener will be taken off life support following organ donation.
