BARTONVILLE, Ill. -- A 48 year old man is being held in the Peoria county Jail -- accused of stabbing an acquaintance Monday night.
Bartonville Police say they arrested Adam Babcock at an apartment in the 5800 block of South Adams Street.
Police were led to Babock by stabbing victim Gregory Purcell, who had driven himself to a Shell service station after being stabbed in his home.
Bartonville Police Chief Brian Fengel said Purcell and Babcock had been drinking and an argument followed.
"Thank goodness that the victim, you know could have died due to blood loss. and the suspect who has been arrested has a prior criminal record," said Bartonville Police Chief Brian Fengel.
Babcock is likely to be officially charged in court on Wednesday.
Purcell was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
His condition is unknown.
