PEORIA, Ill. -- Visitors to the new Peoria Riverfront Museum will find a wide array of exhibits inside the facility's two art galleries.
At 30,000 square feet, the International Features Gallery is more than double the size of Lakeview's gallery. The new bigger space can now feature more than 600 works.
Museum officials say the gallery will continue the museum's strong tradition of bringing world-class traveling exhibitions.
"It's very uptown, big city, it's very current. I think Lakeview served its purpose well. It was an important institution in the community, but it's 2012 and let's get with it. Here we are," said Peoria Riverfront Museum Curator Kristan McKinsey.
Seventy-five art pieces have been selected for the the Central Illinois Arts Organization and Friends Invitational, the first big show inside the new museum.
