PEORIA, Ill. -- Some big wheels from over 20 local companies went head to head on the go-kart track Saturday.

The 8th annual Peoria Area Grand Prix was held at Finish Line Ford.

The event raises money for Junior Achievement of Central Illinois and goes toward that organization's financial literacy and job readiness programs.

Several of the racers shelled out some pretty big bucks.

"We've got folks paying anywhere from a hundred to $5,000 to race," said Larry Timm, president of Junior Achievement of Central Illinois. "What everyone is here to see is Caterpillar versus Komatsu, four heats. We have board members from both companies and the bottom line is its just a wonderful day of racing."

Junior Achievement reaches about 15,000 kids in central Illinois. Organizers were hoping the event would bring in $25,000.
