ILLINOIS -- State Senator Dave Koehler wants to make it against the law for police dispatchers to tip off criminals about police activity.

It may seem obvious that a police department employee shouldn't be warning someone who's about to be arrested, but it turns out it's not against the law.

Koehler's bill would make it illegal.

The Illinois Supreme Court ruled a Glenview dispatcher couldn't be charged with official misconduct because she broke no law after she warned a drug dealer and father of her child that police were about to make a raid.
