EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Watching the game of hockey has been a lifelong tradition for Washington resident, Amy Gayle.
With her favorite team winning the Stanley Cup in 2010, and on their way to winning their second in five years, Gayle says there isn't a better time to be a hockey fan.
"It's the most exciting right now, especially with the streak they had this year. The games have been so close and so intense."
However, being a fan like Gayle comes with a long list of responsibilities, including game-time location, superstitious clothing, and sticking together with her fellow Hawk fans. Even if she just met them.
"I just met these people during the playoffs, and now we meet up and hang out together," said Pekin resident Chelsea Kellerstrass. "We were just high-fiving during one of the playoff games. Now we meet up for every game."
While these Blackhawk fans seemed to be getting along rather well, what playoff run could be completed without the help of their superstitious mentality?
"I've been wearing the Toews jersey all playoffs, and they haven't lost while I've been wearing it," said Blackhawks fan, Tom Guild. "It has been good so far."
"I have a banner that says the 2013 Stanley Cup Champions," said Gayle. "I'm thinking it already. This is my stuffed animal Bruiser. He's got his cup, and we're going to win."
Gayle's mascot, Bruiser, has seen about every Blackhawk game for the last 2 years.
And for this one, she's hoping his good luck will finally shine through.
