BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A Bloomington City Council Alderman has resigned, citing health issues.
Bernard E. Anderson, who had served as Alderman in Ward 1 since 2009, formally submitted on Thursday.
Bloomington Mayor Steve Stockton stated in a release that Anderson had tireless dedication to his constiuents.
"I thank Bernie for his service and wish him and his family the very best, hoping that he can alleviate any conditions that might be impacting his health and get on the path to recovery," said Mayor Stockton.
Stockton says until the position can be filled by an election, he will accept resumes from candidates for a mayoral appointment.
He says the position will most likely be filled by the February 11 meeting.
