BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The ward one Bloomington City Council race has a new candidate.

Jamie Mathy announced on Saturday he is running as a write-in candidate for the recently vacated ward-one seat.

Alderman Bernie Anderson dropped out of the race earlier this week due to health reasons.

In a release, Mathy says he wants to make Bloomington a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Mathy will run against Kevin Lower in the April 9 election.
