BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A replacement has been nominated to take over for former Ward 1 Alderman Bernie Anderson, if Bloomington Council approves.
Mayor Steve Stockton on Friday announced his nomination for Jamison J. "Jamie" Mathy.
According to a release, if the City Council confirms the mayor’s selection at its February 11 meeting, Mathy would be immediately sworn in and represent the ward until the voters make their own selection in the April 9 municipal election.
Other applicants for the appointment were Kevin Lower and Allen Gibson, who once held the post but did not run for re-election in 2009.
The selection was based on information provided by the candidates’ applications, personal interviews, past experience, discussions with acquaintances, and even social media websites.
On January 25, former Alderman Bernie Anderson resigned and removed his name from the election ballot, citing health reasons.
