BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Some buildings in Bloomington might be getting a face-lift as the city council looks into fixing years of deferred maintenance.
On Monday night, the council listened to a presentation on the condition and cost of city-owned facilities such as Water, Public Waste and Fire.
Nearly 50 buildings are being evaluated, and so far estimates for building maintenance are nearly $15 million.
City Manager David Hales said some maintenance has been put off for nearly 20-years and doing the repairs now will not be possible without having business owners and the community on board.
"It's gotta be a very inclusive process to help make sure everyone understands the consequences of not funding the particular city improvement," said City Manager David Hales.
The building repairs are part of the overall plan to upgrade the city's infrastructure, including street, sewage and storm water repairs.
