BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A fire fighter was killed late Tuesday night while responding to an accident.
Authorities say that they were responding to a report of a crash on southbound Interstate 39 in Hudson about 9:45 pm.
About an hour later, while fire and police were on the scene, a semi-trailer carrying a load of cars lost control and hit three first responder vehicles.
Six members of the Hudson crew were injured. Christopher Brown, 39, was pronounced dead just before midnight. He was a volunteer for the Hudson Fire Department.
A Wednesday autopsy showed that Brown died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries due to being hit by a semi-truck.
